Kindergarten is an exciting year that is ripe for exploration. Students will practice habits of courtesy, kindness, cooperation, and self-control. They’ll master the building blocks of math and even learn to read, a skill that will unlock a new world of knowledge to them! They will be filled up with beautiful words through stories and poems as well as the memorization of Scripture and poetry as we promote joyful discovery through a Christian worldview. First Grade is a wonderful time in the lives of children! Their minds are like little sponges ready to absorb a variety of information. We make learning fun as we develop their mind’s ability to learn and retain information through intentional memorization of classical poems, catechisms, and Scripture. Students will develop basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills. Special attention is given towards fostering a love of reading. Read more about our First Grade curriculum here.

In Second Grade, we challenge our students’ sense of curiosity toward rich content as we continue to instill attitudes and habits that form lifelong learners. Having learned to read in First Grade, students grow in their skills as their understanding of language progresses. As students approach new concepts and challenges, it is important to us that they continue to enjoy the process of learning. Learn more about our Second Grade curriculum here.

Third grade marks the transition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn.” Students have developed a love of learning in their younger elementary years and are now led to a deeper understanding of the knowledge they have accumulated. Students are trained in habits of investigation, discovery, discernment, and analysis that will prepare them for more advanced studies. Read more about our Third Grade curriculum here.

Fifth Grade is the final year of elementary education as students prepare to transition to Upper School and the logic stage of the Trivium. In this transition, students become more “why-focused” as they ask deeper questions about what they are learning. During this year, students learn the habits of mind and character needed to engage in more challenging work during their adolescent years. Learn more about our Fifth Grade curriculum here.

Students may be dropped off for school between 7:30-7:55 a.m. Following drop-off students attend a school-wide Morning Assembly with an extended chapel on Mondays. School dismissal is at 2:40 p.m. following a school-wide Closing Assembly each day. Pre-K and Kindergarten families may pick up their child at 12:30 p.m. if they prefer an earlier pick-up time.
