Lower School

The Lower School of Augustine houses our Pre-Kindergarten program and elementary grades (K-5th Grade). These early years encapsulate the grammar stage of the classical Trivium. It is a time of wonder, excitement, and adventure as the students discover the world around them through language. At this age, students love to memorize, imitate, and recite what they learn. They are natural fact-finders, hungry for knowledge of the world around them. Our teachers channel this God-given love towards the learning of good stories, classical literature, Scripture, history, music, art, science and more. As students gain knowledge, they are guided towards deeper understanding as they develop habits of investigation, discovery, discernment, and analysis that will prepare them for more advanced studies in the future. Daily recess, trips to the school garden, and physical education provide moments for healthy movement and mental breaks. God's story and Scripture is woven into everything they learn and do as students begin to shape a biblical worldview. The Lower School years are vital in building a spiritual, emotional, and intellectual foundation to prepare students for their time in Upper School.

Program Distinctives

“Every day I am excited to see how my students will encounter the Lord in their studies. They always have excellent questions, and show me everyday what it looks like to be curious and excited to experience and learn new things. The students are what make my job so special.”

— Shelby Titsworth, First Grade
